About Shayla
Shayla Unik is a dynamic Career Confidence and Development Coach with a decade of experience in human resources. As a certified HR professional since 2019, Shayla has honed her expertise by single-handedly managing an HR department where she focused on hiring individuals based on their skills and abilities for various positions, including C-suite roles.
In 2015, Shayla launched a groundbreaking program aimed at increasing diversity in architecture, which has less than 5% representation of African-Americans in its industry. Through an impactful HBCU tour, she engaged with students from historically Black colleges and universities, providing invaluable feedback on resumes and offering guidance to help them prepare for career opportunities, including internships. To date, Shayla has read over 1,000 resumes and crafted more than 100 tailored resumes for clients ranging from entry-level high school graduates to seasoned professionals pivoting in their careers.
Shayla's coaching style emphasizes the importance of interview preparation, instilling confidence in her clients as they navigate their career journeys. She strongly advocates optimizing Linked In, recognizing it as one of the most underutilized tools for career enhancement. Her mission is to empower clients to build confidence both on paper and in person.
